UNLOCK YOUR POTENTIAL
UNLOCK YOUR POTENTIAL
We offer an alternative path to university for working people looking to unlock their potential.

As part of the course, I participated in work placements across numerous TESCO stores and worked on a window display project with six other students at the KL branch.

“I really enjoyed the experience as I like designing a concept and then sourcing the props for it and seeing it all come together at the end.

“TOA taught me how to create something out of nothing and the partnership with “Learing By Doing” approach which was a great stepping stone for my current job at MYDIN.”

“The amount of time dedicated to work experience in TOA’s course really appealed to me as I knew that it’d help me get a job at the end of the course.

NDTS is the acronym for National Dual Training System. ‘Dual’ means training in two learning situations where training is a joint venture between companies and training institutions.
This is an industry-oriented training scheme that combines workplace and institutional training. School leavers or existing workers who meet the criteria can be offered an apprenticeship opportunity by a sponsoring company to undergo training.
A contract is signed between the company and the apprentices prior to the training. Apprentices are given an allowance throughout the training by the company and are obliged to work with the company upon completion if they are offered employment.
The hands-on training is conducted continuously and the apprentice is expected to get through the assessment as well as the final test which will be conducted at the end of the training programme. Successful apprentices will be awarded with the national skills qualification by Department of Skills Development (DSD).
Why National Dual Training System
The NDTS with its industry oriented training concept is deemed superior to institutional-based training because:
- Minimize mismatch (quality and quantity) between the companies’ requirement and skilled workforce development through demand-driven orientation.
- Training is based on work process approach under actual work conditions
- The need for continuous technological advancement.
- Minimize dependence on foreign workers.
- Increase the speed of transferring technology by providing training in actual working environment
- Inculcates positive training culture in companies, especially in SMEs.
NDTS Benefits
Financial Incentives

- Eligible for tax deduction under the Income Tax Act 1967 or eligible to claim training fees from the Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF) for companies / employers who qualify.
Raising the Quality of Productivity
- Improve the quality of work, for employees who are trained are in accordance with the needs of industry.
- Increase productivity as workers under NDTS can meet the needs of the entire job.
- Improve competiveness as the company / employer is provided with sufficient and relevant skilled workers.
- Increase the use of more efficient new technologies because NDTS apprentices are exposed to a wide range of new technologies during the learning process.
Human Capacity Development
- Improve the quality as the training provided over a specific period of time is based on the diversity of industrial processes.
- Provide a positive impact in terms of employee performance and employee satisfaction.
